Welcome to the Florida Literary Arts Coalition, Florida's voice for independent literary magazines, publishers, & writers. Founded in 2004 by Anhinga Press, Fiction Collective 2, and the University of Tampa Press, the Florida Literary Arts Coalition works to advance new writing and independent publishing throughout the state and region.

CONFERENCE 
2008: November 6-8

The fourth annual OTHER WORDS: A Conference of Literary Magazines, Independent Publishers, and Writers, will be sponsored by the Florida Literary Arts Coalition and Flagler College this year at Flagler College in Saint Augustine, Florida, Nov. 6-8, 2008. The conference will begin with a Thursday night reading on November 6, 2008.  Panels, readings, and workshops will be held all day Friday and Saturday, November 7 and 8.  Featured participating writers will include Tony D'Souza, Peter Meinke, Bucky McMahon, Sheryl St. Germain, Gerry LaFemina, Julia B. Levine, Lisa Zimmerman, Kelle Groom, Lynn Aarti Chandhok, Pat MacEnulty, Peter Blair, Marty Williams, Tania Rochelle, Earl S. Braggs, Michael Neff, Patti White, and William Slaughter. For more information, see the full story under the "News" link.

In Memoriam: Reginald Shepherd

Reginald Shepherd (1963-2008)

The Florida Literary Arts Coalition sadly acknowledges the loss of a friend and distinguished man of letters, Reginald Shepherd, who passed away September 11, 2008, after a painful battle with cancer. A regular participant in the annual FLAC Conferences, Reginald was also one of the first writers to tour the state with our inaugural FLAC Writer's Circuit tour. He will be deeply missed.
